What do Random People Mean in My Dreams? A Few Possibilities

As promised, this is Part 2 of the people’s dream meanings. In my last blog, I focused on the meaning of family members; this time, I will discuss “other random people.” It is always important to note that people are usually symbolic – not always, but usually. If you think you have a revelation for someone you know, make sure that is correct before you speak with them.

You will see that the same basic format is applied each time to interpret a dream (there are FREE downloadable PDF worksheets below the video). If you haven’t done so, I highly recommend my blog, “Four Tools for Dream Interpretation” (https://lifeunderdeborahspalm.com/?p=1181). Without further ado, let’s jump into some symbols!

Names

If the person is someone you know, definitely write down their names. God can use names as a play on words. It has happened to me on more than one occasion. I once had an old boss whose name was Robin. He kept showing up in my dreams, and I couldn’t figure out why – I hadn’t worked for him in 35 years! It turned out that his name was the critical piece, and whenever he was in my dreams, the concept was that of robbing or being robbed.

I also know several people with the last name Taylor. Whenever they are in my dreams, the Lord says I’ve got some understanding but not the full picture. Think of a target with circles and a bullseye. When I see a “Taylor,” God is saying that I’ve hit the mark, but now I need to “tailor” it, meaning be more specific and hit the bullseye.

Nationality & Physical Features

Was the person in your dream someone you didn’t know, but their nationality was very specific? Maybe you knew they were from China or Nigeria or Nepal. God may be asking you to pray for a country. The apostle Paul knew he was to go to Macedonia when he had a vision of a Macedonian man asking him to come (Act 6: 9-10).

Physical Features

Did the person in your dream have any physical features that you noticed? Perhaps they were sick with a specific disease or had a mobility issue, a scar, or weird eye coloring.

I used to work with a couple of guys who spent a ton of time in the gym and probably had every muscle in their bodies developed. Both were nice guys, but they were never nice in my dreams. I wasn’t sure what they represented. Eventually, I figured out that they were symbols of “strong men” found in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke:

Mark 3:27: “But no one can enter into the house of the strong man to plunder unless he first binds the strong man; then he will plunder his house.” (WEB)

The passage does not refer to literal stealing; this is about strongholds in life such as addiction, anger, people pleasing, etc.

I’ve also had dreams with people who struggled to get around. Some were in wheelchairs, while others used walkers, crutches, or canes. God told me that although I was trying to move forward, I struggled with it. People who use any of these items to get around will move slower than someone who doesn’t need them. Not only did I have a hard time getting there, but I was also “delayed.”

Feelings, Perceptions, & Occupations

Feelings…what did you feel about the person? Did they produce any emotions in the dreams? Fear, love, hate, creepiness, or nothing at all? If you know the person, an excellent place to start is your perception of them.

I once worked with a guy I found a little creepy – like I didn’t want to be alone with him. Please understand that it DOES NOT mean that they are like that. This is about how you perceive them. The creepy guy may not have been what I thought. He was married with children, and who knows what he was really like? But in my dreams, he was what I perceived him to be – creepy.

Occupation

Did the person in your dream have a specific occupation? Maybe it was a current or former boss. Bosses are generally symbols of authority. God may be speaking to you regarding your perception of authority and how you’ve submitted to it, whether good or bad.

Perhaps there was a police officer in your dream. Again, they may have to do with authority, but they also could represent law enforcement. Like everything, law enforcement can be good or bad. Were you raised by someone who was unreasonably strict? Are you in a religious structure that has rules and regulations that go above and beyond what the Bible states? Are you the one who needs to lighten up on some things?

Do you dream of people in the medical field? Doctors and nurses are in practice to heal. Or, are you “nursing” something, like an old wound? God may be trying to get you healed up!

Dreams can take time to untangle their ultimate meaning, but God will unlock secrets if you are willing to pursue the symbolism. Until next time under the palm, be blessed!
